The Decatur Farmhouse Residence design began as a 3,500 square foot, Tudor project and ended up as a 6,400 square foot, Farmhouse project. Changing design scopes and construction budgets lead to a meandering exploration of design possibilities, eventually culminating in the final farmhouse design.
The journey from Tudor to Farmhouse styles affected not only the elevations, but the plans as well. The asymmetrical front elevation, a common trait of the Tudor style, gradually changed to a more symmetrical design, more emblematic of a home in the Farmhouse style. The stucco finish changed to a board and batten siding, brackets were added, and rooms were slightly rearranged to make it all work together as a cohesive design.
