The Ridley residence is a renovation and addition to a ranch styled home in the City of Decatur, designed in the Contemporary Tudor style.
The renovation to the Ridley residence involved an extensive expansion to an existing ranch styled home. The homeowners wanted a very clean, contemporary feel to the entire house, inside and out. The often monochromatic, white walls, provide the prefect background for the colorful details, vibrant fixtures, and punches of dark accent walls. The colors of the exposed beams in the great room, wood grain of the hardwood floors, and bold color of the dining room feel almost more powerful in contrast. The large casement windows complete the more contemporary feel of the home.
The stucco wrapped entry piece adds a modern touch to what could have been a standard stoop. The brick detailing, at the windows and in the gable, is bold enough to be seen, while remaining subtle enough not to overpower the clean look of the façade. The gas lantern adds a nice finishing touch.
